Director Bio

 

Jerry Scott has taught for 17 years, twelve of which have been as the Choral Director at Bolivar High School where he receivd the “Master Teacher Award” for the school district in 2003.  His choirs have received numerous awards and earned consistent “I” ratings in District and State Music Festivals.  The Bolivar High School Concert Choir was invited to sing for the 1999 Music Educators Association Convention and also was named Class 3 Champion at the Worlds of Fun Choir Festival numerous times from 1993-2005.

After a four year stint in the corporate world with Duck Creek Technologies he returned to Bolivar High School in 2009 to lead the distinguished and award winning choral program.  Prior to coming Bolivar he spent five years as the Choral Director at Marion C. Early High School in Morrisville, MO where he also served as the Head Soccer Coach, Asst. Boys Basketball Coach, and Athletic Director.  Mr. Scott has also served as an adjunct faculty member for Missouri State University where he taught “Secondary Choral Methods” from 2003-2006.

Mr. Scott is a member of the American Choral Directors, Missouri Music Educators Association and has previosly served on the Executive Boards of both organizations.  He has has also served on the MSHSAA Music Advisory Board and served as a District Music Festival Manager. Mr. Scott has served as a clinician for District and Conference Honor Choirs as well as an adjudicator for District Music Festivals and All-State Choir auditions.  He holds a Bachelor and Masters Degree in Music Education from Missouri State University.

Mr. Scott has been married to the love of his life Vicky for 22 years.  She is a distinguished Elementary Music Educator for Springfield Public Schools. They ae the proud parents of three children Jacob, Chris, and Maddison and two dogs Sammy and Buddy.  In his free time he enjoys Cardinals baseball, watching the Cubs lose,  MSU Bears Basketball,  playing and watching golf, listening to his fvorite band “Big Smith”, and serving at South Haven Baptist Church.
